DUES INCREASE FOR 2012

All members, please log in and visit the Fees & Dues page for the dues rates for 2012.

If you have not already done so, please mail your payment for the first quarter of 2012.  This will insure you have your receipt before the first of January. 

We will also be sending only one union button for the entire year.  Please contact the office if you need a replacement.

HOLIDAY OFFICE HOURS

The Union Office will close at noon on Friday, December 23, 2011 and reopen on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 8:00 AM for the Christmas Holiday.

The Union Office will close at noon on Friday, December 30, 2011 and reopen on Tuesday,January 3, 2012 at 8:00 AM for the New Year’s Holiday.

home_rotator5Welcome to Local No. 9 IBEW. Established in 1892, our membership has grown to serve 2,400 men and women throughout the greater Chicagoland area and beyond.

We have developed this website as a source of information about our union and its goals, and also as a resource for our members. We at Local No. 9 strive daily to meet these goals and to master the new challenges that face us in today's changing world.

History

history_daredtodreamAccording to the earliest records of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the union's first convention was held in St. Louis on November 21, 1891. Ten delegates, representing 286 members, met to form what was then called the National Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Those ten members are credited as being the founders of the IBEW.
